I got suspicious when I received a letter "supposedly" from Bank of America stating that they had reviewed my file and wanted to offer me a loan modification. I have never been behind on my mortgage, and find it hard to believe that BOA would want to reduce my principle to the actual market value of my house. I called the number, and asked for the name and location of the company that I was calling. It was not BOA as suspected, but it was CONSULT LEGAL GROUP. I did a quick search for Orange County, California Fictitious Names, cross referenced the owners name to previous companies, and searched BBB for those company names. Here is what I found:
The owner of this company is Bruce Weiner. He has now started a new company called Consult Legal Group. It currently does not have any complaints registered anywhere. However his last 3 companies are all rated the same on BBB, and that rating is an F. Previous companies include: NATIONAL LAW GROUP, CENTRAL LAW GROUP, and CONSULT LAW GROUP.
I hope this information helps someone make an informed decision.
